Specimen X is a mixed media series that explores botanical trace through abstraction, gesture, and controlled chance. Built from fluid inks, washes, and layered mark-making on textured surfaces, the works move through digital composition, are realized as large-scale archival giclée pigment prints to preserve depth, saturation, and micro-detail, and are then further worked by hand with ink and paint. Each piece distills internal botanical energies into suspended, abstract organisms.
The series functions as a speculative archive of living systems, where growth, vulnerability, and structure coexist. Specimen X presents imagined samples from an evolving taxonomy, transforming natural observation into a visual language of suspended life.
